I confess, I am. Sometimes I do not even realize how much my carelessness cost me. This weekend it was really nice outside so I decided to clean my car, more specifically the trunk. I do not use it often, so it has the tendency to accumulate random things. Well, I was surprised and pretty upset with myself when I realized I had approximately $100 worth of returns in the trunk. Some of the items were from the Summer. Nothing special, a notebook here, a shirt there. I suppose it just slipped my mind but I will be honest and say this is not the first time I found something months later that I forgot to return.
What are my reasons why I ended up with $100 worth of returns in my car? I am pretty sure it is procrastination and impatience. I am the classic procrastinator, not really sure why but it started in grade school and has never changed. I feel like I do my best work when I am in a crunch. See, classic. So, what most like happened was I put the items in the trunk and said I will take them back tomorrow, then tomorrow never came. The other logical excuse (at least logical to me was) was that I was in a hurry when I purchased them so I just grabbed a few items I liked, said I would try it on later and never did. It just stayed in the car.
How do I solve this issue? Well, the first step is admitting that I have a problem being careless with my money. FINE! I admit it. However, taking the time out to actually pay attention to what I am spending my money on would work. For the most part I know where all my money goes but in this case I have just thrown away $100. That does not make me happy. The procrastination issue is a little bit harder for me but it can be done. It still all boils down to me being careless with my money. Are you careless with your money? Were you careless with your money? I would love to know what you are doing to prevent that.
